Annex Policy For Potential Predators.
Our definition of Predator or person of interest =
A person who has a proven to have displayed behaviour as a predator but has not been subject to legal action.
A person who is proven to have displayed behaviour which could be considered dangerous to others and is/has been subject to legal action as a result of their behaviour on the kink scene.
A person who is proven to have stalked another person or group either online or in person and do or say things either in person or online intended to cause harm or emotional distress to others.
Our policy for dealing with this situation.
When it is brought to our attention that a person of interest wishes to attend an event at The Annex we will take on board the evidence presented to us and take into account:-
1, The length of time since the offending behaviour occurred.
2, The severity of the accusation.
3, The legal action taken and any conviction/caution issued as a result.
4, Are the complainers attending the event the person of interest is intending to attend.
After discussing as a group of Annex leaders we will take the following action.
1, If the person of interest has been subject to past legal action and has a conviction/caution for their actions they will receive an automatic lifetime ban from events or hire at The Annex.
2, If the person of interest is subject to current legal action they will be told that they are not welcome to attend until they are cleared of all charges and can show that the accusation/s made against them were uncompromisingly malicious.
3, If the complainers are intending to attend the same event as the person of interest, and the person of interest has already confirmed their attendance but has been subject to a past ban or warning from The Annex they will be told not to attend the event in favour of the complainer attending and the person on interest will be told why they are no longer welcome to attend that event.
4, If the complainers are intending to attend the same event as the person of interest, and the person of interest has already confirmed their attendance but has NOT been subject to a past ban or warning from The Annex then the complainer will be told that the person of interest has done nothing to be banned or warned about and will still be able to attend and it is, therefore, a decision “the complainer” needs to make whether they wish to attend or not.
5, If, either at a party or as a result of being at a party at The Annex, a person inflicts harm on another we will, as a group of Annex leaders, discuss what, if any, action should be taken.
We are NOT the police, we will NEVER make any actions we take available online; if a situation which should be reported to the authorities is brought to our attention we will support the complainer in the reporting of the incident, if the incident is of a very serious nature we will have no choice but to report the incident even if the complainer does not wish to report it …. in this case, we would do everything we can to respect the complainer’s wishes not to name them, but we cannot offer any guarantee that the authorities will not want to talk to them.
We will always listen sympathetically and without prejudice to any complaint made and will always inform the complainer of any action we take as a result and will offer support either personally or by a referral to the relevant services to offer the best support available for the situation.
Whilst we do everything we can to protect the guests at The Annex we cannot take responsibility for everyone and recommend that before agreeing to play either in public or in private with someone that you research that person as much as possible, if no evidence can be found that that person is safe do NOT meet them in private but suggest playing in public until you are reassured (any caring player will respect this), if you do meet in private make sure you have your security systems in place. And remember, Ted Bundy was reputedly one of the most charming men you could meet!
