One of the nicest things about the lifestyle is that most of us relate to each other with understanding, thoughtfulness, and common courtesy; just as we ourselves wish to be treated. If you employ the following etiquette suggestions or adapt them to your own situation, you should be a welcome participant.
Be aware that this is a lifestyle full of insecurities, uncertainties and fears. Courteously is how we all want to be treated – with kindness, thoughtfulness, understanding and sensitivity. In essence, courtesy is about treating people the way we ourselves want to be treated. Whether or not you are personally interested in swinging with someone, be polite. You never know, you may share many other interests or you may meet that person again, and they may introduce you to someone with whom you ARE compatible and do wish to share time. This is priority, nothing turns a person off faster and more effectively than an unclean body or un-fresh breath, so please be clean and fresh at all times.
If you are interested in swinging with someone, let them know in an inviting way; if they are interested, they will respond positively. If they are not and say “No, thank you,” do not ask WHY. No amount of sweet talk or coercion on your part will change their mind and will probably work against you. Everyone has the right to say “NO” at all times, to anyone, without explanation. Do not ever forget that. Do not allow yourself to become sexually involved with anybody that you are not interested in. There is no reason to involve yourself in a scene that you are not comfortable with. You are in the lifestyle to enjoy yourself, so only do what you want, when you want and with whom you want. It is up to us to protect ourselves as well as our partners. The use of condoms should not offend anybody. Anyone not willing to take this precaution is acting selfishly and irresponsibly. You are not being accused of being unclean, but simply someone wishes to provide you both with protection.
No illegal substances of any kind are allowed. Failure to adhere to these rules result in being asked to leave the premises and a lifetime ban.
Most important, have a good time, act out your fantasies, explore your own sexuality and enjoy everything this lifestyle has to offer with enthusiasm, laughter and a positive attitude.
We ask that you respect play space. Make sure you do not get too close and be aware of the back swings of floggers and whips. Use a safe word or gesture when playing, especially when you are not totally familiar with your play partner. RED is widely recognised as a common safe word meaning STOP! The equipment is here for your enjoyment and used at your own risk, we ask that you satisfy yourself that equipment is safe and clean to use before starting to play and remember to clean it again after use, if you find it unsafe please let the organiser/dungeon monitor know as soon as possible and it will be taken out of use.
Play is encouraged, but be aware that you use all equipment at your own risk and neither the venue organiser or suppliers of the equipment accept any liability for any loss or injury. Do not sit on the equipment or use it as a table for food or drink as it prevents genuine players from using it.
Please do not touch other people, their equipment, clothes, toys or their subs without permission. If you want to borrow something, please be respectful and ask and return it cleaned afterwards.
Please do not join a scene in session without the explicit permission of all concerned. It is bad manners to crowd them or try to push in. If they want your involvement, you will be invited. If you would like to watch a scene in progress do so at a respectful distance and keep conversation between spectators to a minimum and at as lower volume as possible, respect the after-care between sub and Dom/me and leave them undisturbed until finished.
No photography, cameras or recording devices, including mobiles with cameras are permitted to be used at any party; if there is an official event photographer then you should ask them to take any photographs you would like, all photographs will be sent via email after review by the venue owner and no copies will be kept unless gifted to the venue by the model in the picture. The venue can be hired privately for photographs to be taken.
Remember not to discuss play at the party or the people included in any scene either before or after with anyone not attending, a simple but overlooked respect of privacy which can cause distress when overlooked.
Please respect the right to privacy of the other guests at the party/event, failure to do so will incur a suspension of permission to attend the Annex.
No illegal substances of any kind are allowed, no illegal activities are allowed.
Failure to adhere to these rules result in being asked to leave the premises and may incur a lifetime ban.
Sub notes (excuse the pun). Store your bags/equipment thoughtfully and do not block walkways to avoid injury to others.
Annex Policy For Potential Predators.
Our definition of Predator or person of interest =
A person who has a proven to have displayed behaviour as a predator but has not been subject to legal action.
A person who is proven to have displayed behaviour which could be considered dangerous to others and is/has been subject to legal action as a result of their behaviour on the kink scene.
A person who is proven to have stalked another person or group either online or in person and do or say things either in person or online intended to cause harm or emotional distress to others.
Our policy for dealing with this situation.
When it is brought to our attention that a person of interest wishes to attend an event at The Annex we will take on board the evidence presented to us and take into account:-
1, The length of time since the offending behaviour occurred.
2, The severity of the accusation.
3, The legal action taken and any conviction/caution issued as a result.
4, Are the complainers attending the event the person of interest is intending to attend.
After discussing as a group of Annex leaders we will take the following action.
1, If the person of interest has been subject to past legal action and has a conviction/caution for their actions they will receive an automatic lifetime ban from events or hire at The Annex.
2, If the person of interest is subject to current legal action they will be told that they are not welcome to attend until they are cleared of all charges and can show that the accusation/s made against them were uncompromisingly malicious.
3, If the complainers are intending to attend the same event as the person of interest, and the person of interest has already confirmed their attendance but has been subject to a past ban or warning from The Annex they will be told not to attend the event in favour of the complainer attending and the person on interest will be told why they are no longer welcome to attend that event.
4, If the complainers are intending to attend the same event as the person of interest, and the person of interest has already confirmed their attendance but has NOT been subject to a past ban or warning from The Annex then the complainer will be told that the person of interest has done nothing to be banned or warned about and will still be able to attend and it is, therefore, a decision “the complainer” needs to make whether they wish to attend or not.
5, If, either at a party or as a result of being at a party at The Annex, a person inflicts harm on another we will, as a group of Annex leaders, discuss what, if any, action should be taken.
We are NOT the police, we will NEVER make any actions we take available online; if a situation which should be reported to the authorities is brought to our attention we will support the complainer in the reporting of the incident, if the incident is of a very serious nature we will have no choice but to report the incident even if the complainer does not wish to report it …. in this case, we would do everything we can to respect the complainer’s wishes not to name them, but we cannot offer any guarantee that the authorities will not want to talk to them.
We will always listen sympathetically and without prejudice to any complaint made and will always inform the complainer of any action we take as a result and will offer support either personally or by a referral to the relevant services to offer the best support available for the situation.
Whilst we do everything we can to protect the guests at The Annex we cannot take responsibility for everyone and recommend that before agreeing to play either in public or in private with someone that you research that person as much as possible, if no evidence can be found that that person is safe do NOT meet them in private but suggest playing in public until you are reassured (any caring player will respect this), if you do meet in private make sure you have your security systems in place. And remember, Ted Bundy was reputedly one of the most charming men you could meet!
Any issue or concerns you have your first port of call is always to The Annex
Taking Photographs @ The Annex
Regards Photographs being taken @ The Annex please read the paragraph within the party etiquette write up which says, “No photography, cameras or recording devices, including mobiles with cameras are permitted to be used at any party; if there is an official event photographer then you should ask them to take any photographs you would like using the venue’s own camera to vet what has been taken.” If there is no official photographer you may still ask to use the Annex camera and pictures will be sent to you via email.
We encourage everyone attending a party to be familiar with “Party Etiquette”.
Thank you for your co – operation.
